Breakdown of the individual aspects of fund raising.
The money was made up of:- fishing entry fees, collection tins, raffle & auction.
The charity’s collection tins still have to be opened by the Rowcroft Hospice, and we will update the total raised when this is done and all pledged money is received. We can however state that the total will be well over £3000.00.

No expenses or deductions were taken out, as everything other than donated goods & services was paid for by Dave & Joanne. Therefore, the full sum will go to the Rowcroft Hospice at Torquay.

Overall, this was an extremely successful and thoroughly enjoyable exercise. The BBQ breakfast and hog roast went down very well, and the weather was as reasonable as anyone could expect for the time of year.

Following the success of this event, we have already arranged another for 5th, 6th & 7th October 2012, when the weather should be better. The majority of this years’ entrants have put their name down for this, leaving only limited places. Anyone else interested in participating, please give your name to Paul on 07814060147 asap.

The owners and staff at Emperor Lakes would like to take this opportunity to wish all anglers, suppliers & business associates, a very happy & successful new year.

CATCH REPORT TO 17th DECEMBER.

Very few fishing now but the day ticket water provided Steve Munday with a lively day session. He set a new lake record common, with a pristine fish of 32.12, along with another common and a mirror, both over 25lbs. Richard Bradbeare took a low twenty mirror.

Steve Munday with his new day ticket water record common of 32.12.
(Apologies for the poor photo. Assume the photographer started his Xmas celebrations early).

Steve with 25lb+ mirror & common.
Only two fish recorded from the season ticket water, a 25.01 mirror to Jamie Everard, and another of 26lbs+ to Rob Pierce.
Jamie Everard with 25.01 mirror.
Still very reasonable mixed bag catches from the stock pools, including one of 43lbs to Brian Atkins.

At least the lack of anglers has allowed more upgrading and improvements on both lakes, and for more work to be carried out on the otter fencing.

Dave, Joanne and Paul would like to wish all of their anglers, past and present, a very Happy Christmas and all the very best for next year. They would also like to express their sincere gratitude to all those who have helped out on the land, particularly the members who have consistantly spent more of their time working, than fishing. Thank you all.

Monday 12 December 2011

CATCH REPORTS TO 10th DECEMBER.

Alan Greenwood 36.10 mirror.
Despite the awful weather conditions, a few good fish reported this week. The season ticket lake produced a mirror of 36.10 to new member Alan Greenwood, on his first session. Dave took a very rare couple of hours off to fish for pike and landed 6 fish from mid teens to 21lbs.
Dave with his 21lb pike.
The day ticket water threw up some good carp, topped by a 31lb mirror for Kev Lock, along with another at 23lbs. Richard Bradbeare landed a common of 22lbs, along with a catfish of 38lbs.
The stock ponds are still producing good bags of mixed fish.

Monday 5 December 2011

CATCH REPORTS TO 3rd DECEMBER.

Very little reported this week, but Mark Owen put a pike rod out on the season ticket water and was rewarded with an upper teen fish. We are told some carp were caught by secret squirrel anglers, but not officially reported.

Just a reminder that we are currently taking names of anglers interested in the new piking syndicate. Please phone Paul on 07814 060147 for details.
    Mark Owen with his pike.
Day ticket angler Taff Vanstone took a common of 22.08, along with a catfish of 35lbs, and Alex Baker reported the capture of a 15lb ghost carp.

Monday 28 November 2011

CATCH REPORT TO 26th NOVEMBER.

Another quiet week, but a couple of surprise captures for this late in the year, in the form of a 6.15 tench to Jamie Parr and a 38.02 catfish to Richard Broadbeer, both from the day ticket water. The lake also produced an 18.12 common, along with a couple of pike for Steve Jones, and a 18.12 mirror to Paul Wood. Pike anglers might be interested to know that a substantial number of pike captures have been landed over the past three weeks, and sighting of very large ones, believed to be over 30lbs have been reported. Certainly, a number of 25lb+ fish have been landed this year, and we are looking at forming a syndicate for pike fishing. Names are now being taken, please phone Paul on 07814 060147.
Dan Williams with his PB mirror of 33.12.
The only sizeable fish reported from the season ticket lake was a lovely condition mirror of 33.12, the first fish and a PB for new member Dan Williams. This rather slim fish is obviously capable of putting on quite a few pounds before spawning time.

Still plenty of fish taken from the stock ponds.

Monday 21 November 2011

CATCH REPORTS TO 19th NOVEMBER.

A little quiet still, but a few good fish reported. The day ticket lake produced another two 30's this week, a 32.05 PB common to Mark Harraway and a 30.12 mirror to Tony Latter, also a PB. Steve Janes took a mirror of 23.02.
Tony Latter with 30.12 mirror
Mark Harraway with his 32.05 common.
Very few fishing on the season ticket water, but it did produce a 33.01 PB mirror for Rob Pierce, an unusually long fish, and a 26.10 mirror to Mark Pollard. Mark Owen took a common of 24.12 and Malcolm Best landed a 20lb mirror.
Rob Pierce with his 33.01 mirror.

Monday 14 November 2011

CATCH REPORTS TO 12th NOVEMBER.

Very quiet on both main lakes this week, although more fish are known to have been landed, the only reported captures are from the day ticket lake. They were a 31lb common to Craig Thomas, and an 18.04 common to Taff Vanstone.
The lack of anglers did allow Dave to carry out extra maintenance on the lakes.
Craig Thomas with his 31lb common.
On a brighter note, some lively action on a couple of the stock pools. Martin James fished a half day on Amiees Pool for a mixed bag of 73lbs, and three lads fished Teardrop Pool over two daylight session, to help thin out the large quantity of fish. Around 130 carp, mainly in the 2-3lb bracket were landed, with 30 of the best mirrors moved to the fish room for rearing on, and the rest, mainly commons, going into Dans Pool. Tench to over 7lb were also hooked, but these were left in Teardrop.
Rod Phillips with an earlier 22.14 common.

Monday 7 November 2011

CATCH REPORTS TO 5th NOVEMBER.

Very quiet with the arrival of the cold weather, and far fewer anglers on the lakes. The only reported captures on the season ticket lake were a 30.02 mirror to Mark Owen, 28lb mirror to Brian Male and 22lb common to Les Wallace.
Mark Owen with his 30.02 mirror.
Hard work also on the day ticket water, with a 35.06 catfish for Richard Bradbeare, an 18.08 common to Joseph Neale, and a surprise 5.02 tench to Wayne Guage, despite plummeting temperatures. However, once again, one of our regulars, Andy Buchanon did well with catfish of 34.08 & 15lbs, plus common carp of 18.08 & 19.08.

Monday 31 October 2011

CATCH REPORTS TO 29th OCTOBER.

Rather quiet on both main lakes following the prolonged heavy rain in the early part of the week, but later on a couple of good fish recorded from the season ticket water. Rob Williams took the best carp of the week, with a PB mirror of 40.09, and Gavin Hewitt landed a pristine mirror of 38.10, another PB. As yet, this is an unidentified fish which showed all the classic signs of rarely being banked, with no body, fin or mouth damage and its curtain fully intact.
Rob Williams with his 40.09 mirror.
Gavin Hewitt with his unidentified mirror of 38.10.
Few recorded captures from the day ticket water, but again some quality fish, the heaviest being a PB common of 31.12 to Taff Vanstone. Close behind was Dave Wood, with another common of 28.02, whilst Colin Wood had a common of 19.15, and Sean Martin took a mirror 20.04.
Dave Wood with 28.02 common.

Monday 24 October 2011

CATCH REPORTS TO 22nd OCTOBER.

Some good captures again from the season ticket lake, top being a mirror of 41.08 to Rich Lynn. Mark Owen & Rod Phillips continue their productive runs, with Mark taking a brace consisting of a 37.12 mirror & 35.08 common, and Phil taking a 35.11 mirror and 25.09 common. Other 20's reported included a 26.10 mirror to Vic Cranfield.
Rich Lynn with his 41.08 mirror.
Rod Phillips with 35.11 mirror.
A bit short of reports from the day ticket water, and we do ask anglers to log their captures or let Paul have details. The only carp logged were a ghostie of 18.08 to Alex Baker, and 19.08 mirror to Andy Buchanon, who also took two catfish of 35.08 & 40.08.

Sunday 16 October 2011

CATCH REPORT TO 15th OCTOBER.

A very nice trio from the season ticket lake, when Steve Burgess took mirrors of 30.02, 35.02 & 39.06. The latter fish is not previously known to be a 40, and being virtually empty of any roe, should be comfortably into the 40lb plus bracket by the end of the year. Mark Owen took two mirrors of 32.06 & 30.06.
Steve Burgess with his 39.06 mirror

Steve Burgess with his 35.02 mirror

Mark Owen with 32.06 mirror.
The day ticket water seems to have been invaded by the Woods. Not sure if they are all related, but Dave took the biggest fish, a PB 33.13 mirror, Paul's best was a 19.14 common, and Paul took a 24.01 common. Best catch by the group was Mark, who landed a 24.02 mirror, along with 2 doubles, plus a tench of 4lbs. Although it is still a good tench, it's the smallest this year, with all earlier fish have been in the 6-10lb bracket.
Dave Wood with his 33.13 mirror.

Sunday 9 October 2011

CATCH REPORT TO 8th OCTOBER.

Fewer anglers on this week, but still some respectable fish reported. The day ticket lake threw up a mixed bag for Alex Baker, with a common of 25lbs, mirror of 21.02, ghostie of 17lbs and a tench of 6.02. Jamie Parr took a new PB common of 28.12.

The season ticket lake also few anglers this week, when John Andrews took a common of 32.04 and Dave Reekie had a mirror of 31.02. Rod Phillips landed a common of 28.08, along with a mirror of 29.05 and Jason Edwards took a mirror of 27lbs. Steve Burgess took a trio, consisting of commons of 15lbs & 22lbs, along with a mirror of 29.15. A home grown mirror of 16.01 reported by Gary Baker.
Gareth Hazelden with his 31lb mirror from the previous week.

CATCH REPORTS TO 1st OCTOBER.

CORRECTION TO THE LAST WEEK REPORT
AND THE FIRST 40lb CARP FROM THE DAY TICKET WATER.

Last week we reported the capture of a 34.04 mirror by Chris Bibb. Dave was not on site to witness the capture and weighing, but when he received the photos, immediately felt the fish was heavier than stated. Later in the week, Chris returned with his scales, and they were checked against two sets of accurate scales, which were subsequently checked by weights & measures. Chris now has a set of scales for sale, going very cheap!
Chris Bibb with the first 40 from the day ticket lake, 40.12 mirror.
Obviously, everyone is delighted at this news, as no-one really expected to see a 40lb carp from the day ticket lake until the latter part of next year, even with the rapid growth rates achieved since Dave & Joanne took over the fishery.

Other reports from the day ticket water this week include a 24.04 common and 2lb eel to Andy Buchanon and 37lb cat to Steve Munday. Scott Wainbridge took a 17.05 common and 5.04 eel, Joseph Neale landed a PB common of 19.05, Dean Channing had a 16.08 mirror and Tony Toffalo reported a common of 16lbs. Other carp in the upper teens to mid twenties are known to have been banked but no specific details have been logged.

The season ticket lake has produced mirrors of 33lb to Vic Cranfield & 31lb to Gareth Hazledean, but top rod this week is Ryan Male with a trio of carp, mirrors of 31.09 & 32.01, plus a common of 31.02. No pics received yet.

Monday 26 September 2011

CATCH REPORTS TO 24th SEPTEMBER.

A very respectable week again on the season ticket lake, with the top fish to Rod Phillips, a 37.04 mirror, and a new PB for him. Close behind was Malcolm Best with a common of 35.12. Vic Cranfield took a duo of mirrors at 30.14 & 26.03, and Dave Pierce had a 30.10 mirror & 29.06 common. Nigel Rogers landed commons of 27.04 & 23.01, whilst Jason Edwards had another common of 29.02.
Dave Pierce with 29.06 common & 30.10 mirror.
A very nice capture on the day ticket lake for Chris Bibb, a new PB in the form of a 34.04 mirror. This has been positively verified as a different fish to the 34.12 mirror taken recently. Kev Lock also took a new PB with a common of 25.14 and Brendon ? had a 4lb eel. Several other doubles to low twenties carp & catfish reported.

Monday 19 September 2011

CATCH REPORT TO 17th SEPTEMBER.

Some good fish reported from the season ticket lake this week. Dave Reekie landed a mirror of 40.04, Steve Burgess took a mirror of 38.12 and Matt Holland had a trio of commons at 36lbs, 27.12 & 21lbs. Rod Phillips took a nice duo of 36.10 mirror and 33.09 (PB) common, Mark Owen had a linear mirror of 29.06, Carolyn Rogers landed a mirror of 28.06 and Chris Manifold had a common of 28.01. As can be seen from the pictures below, the carp are carrying little roe, and should all be considerably heavier towards the end of the year.
Rod Phillips with 36.10 mirror & 33.10 common.
Mark Owen with his 40.04 mirror.
Steve Burgess with 38.12 mirror
Carolyn Rogers with her 28.06 mirror
Not so good returns for carp from the day ticket water this week, but the catfish have again been active, with a 49.12 to Gary Clark, his first ever cat and obviously a PB, the same applying to Tony Clark with a 36.10. Simon Jones took another of 38.12, Lee Cooper had a 38.06 and Andy Buchanon took a small one at 14.08, along with common carp of 21.08 & 16.02, plus a mirror of 21.08 and ghosties of 18.02 & 16.08.
Other reported carp were a 19.08 common to Phil Vine, common of 14.08 to a C Vernon, and commons of 13.08 & 13.06 to Dave Wood.

Sunday 11 September 2011

CATCH REPORT TO 10th SEPTEMBER.

Logged reports are in short supply for both lakes this week. This is doubtless partly due to the unsettled, often wet weather, slowing the fishing somewhat. Only a couple of note from the day ticket water, with David Poolman taking a PB common of 30.12 and Andy Buchanon with commons of 26lbs & 15.12, along with a ghostie of 19.02.
David Poolman with 30.12 common. The season ticket lake saw Nigel Rogers with a mirror of 30.02, Mark Owen with a linear mirror of 29.08 and Steve Ellison with a common of 28lbs, plus mirrors of 26.08 & 25lbs.  Chris Manifold took a mirror of 26.10, Malcom Best had another of 23.04, Dave Reekie landed a common of 23lbs and Vic Cranfield a mirror of 22.13.
Mark Owen with 29.08 linear mirror.
Nigel Rogers with his 30.02 mirror.

Monday 5 September 2011

CATCH REPORTS TO 3rd SEPTEMBER.

The day ticket lake has fished well again, with Tomo Tousland taking the best carp, a mirror of 30.15. Dave Wood took commons of 14.02, 18.06 & 21.04, plus a catfish of 35.11. Brother Paul had a mirror of 16.08 and a catfish of 18.10. Dave Hood took a common carp of 23.03, Chris Bibb had commons of 13.10 & 15.02 and Mark Wood landed a catfish of 35.06. Sam & Andy took catfish of 14lbs & 41.01, plus a mirror of 14lbs, Chris Lambert had a catfish of 35.01 and an eel of 3lbs. Barry Brewer, a newcomer to carp angling took his first ever carp, a mirror of 13.10.
Tomo Tousland with his 30.15 mirror.
From the season ticket lake, best of the reported catches was to Carolyn Rogers, who has only previously fished on the day ticket water. She has now joined up for the specimin lake, and her very first fish was a linear mirror of 32.06, a very impressive achievement. Other reports include Brian Male with a mirror of 30.11 and Dave Pierce with mirrors of 29lbs & 31.15. Steve Dawes fished a short session on the water for eels, landing 3 fish to 2.04.
Carolyn Rogers with her linear mirror of 32.06.
On the subject of eels, and following our report last week of the site being awarded a certificate as an eel friendly water, we have been notified that we are one of ONLY 8 sites in the country given this award. Unfortunately, eels are the favourite food of otters, so as a precaution, we are hoping to be able to carry out the scheduled installation of otter proof fencing as soon as possible.

Monday 29 August 2011

CATCH REPORTS TO 28th AUGUST.

Very reasonable catches reported from the season ticket lake this week, including a 37.08 mirror to Pete Berry, a 36.02 PB mirror to Mark Pollard and a duo of mirrors at 31lbs & 29.03 to Rod Phillips. The day ticket water remains consistant, with the catfish showing well this week. Top catfish was a 53.04 to Kevin Lock, followed by Mickey Palmer with a 40.12. Simon Janes took cats of 39.02,  24.12 and 16.06, plus a common carp of 24.10. The day ticket water has again been productive, with reports showing Scott Easton with a good bag consisting of commons at 20.03, 16.07, 15.03 & 13.06, plus mirrors of 17.10 & 13.12, and Dave Wood taking a trio consisting of commons at 16.10 & 18.10, along with a catfish of 23.06. Kev Lock took a trio of carp, mirrors of 31.14 & 16.02, plus a common of 23.12, Tony Toffalo landed a common of 17lbs and Lee Wakeling took an 18lb ghostie. Dave Pullman banked a catfish of 36lb, a mirror of 21.04 and a ghostie of 12.00, Sean Powell took a catfish at 38lbs and Dave Hood took a 20lb cat, plus a mirror of 19.15. Scott Wainbridge had a mirror of 28.02, Stuart Channing took a catfish of 38lbs and Steve Dawes of the National Anguila Club took an eel of 4.04.

Steve Dawes with his 4.04 eel.
We are delighted and proud to announce receipt of a certificate of being an eel friendly site, from the National Anguilla Club. This accolade follows dialogue with the club, and catch reports of large eels, with numerous over the specimen weight of 4lbs, including three over 7lbs and one over 8lbs. Steve Dawes, from the National Records Office of the NAC, has visited the lakes, and recognised how we have implemented positive conservation approaches to the welfare of eels .

Steve also fished a short session on the day ticket lake and was rewarded with an eel of 4lb 4ozs, and has accepted that we obviously have a significant number of these fish, in fact more specimens than average. They are becoming so rare, (99% loss since1980), it makes them the most endangered vertebrate in the British Isles. They are now a protected species, and we ask all anglers to treat any captures with utmost care. Full details will be posted on the web site shortly, and all eel captures will now be posted on the weekly catch reports.

The large eels reported this year represent 40% of the Nation’s reported notable fish.  We, along with our anglers, should feel honoured that these fish have chosen our waters as their home, ( not  stocked), and we must all step up to the mark, in terms of ensuring good conservation practices. Copies of these recommendations are posted around the site.

Monday 15 August 2011

CATCH REPORTS TO 14th AUGUST.

Very quiet this week, with many of our anglers away on holiday. The only reported captures on the season ticket lake are all mirror carp, with a 28lb fish to Steve Ellison, Chris Woodgate with a 27lbs, Vic Cranfield with a 26.05 and Chris Manifold with a duo of 24.06 & 27.14.

The reported captures on the day ticket lake include a nice brace for Scott Easton of a 30.08 common and catfish of 45.04, both fish being new PB's. Mark Woods landed a mirror of 23.02 and regular Andy Buchanon took a ghostie of 16lbs, mirror of 18.12 and catfish of 23.02. A 17.08 ghostie was taken by Tyrone Norah and a common of 15.14 fell to Taff Vanstone. It seems there were some other good fish landed, but the details were not reported.

Scott Easton with 30.08 common and 45.04 catfish, both PB's.

Renewals for the syndicate are due shortly, and possibly a few places will become available.  Although we currently have a waiting list, we will be happy to take new applications. In the first instance please contact Paul Power on 07814 060147.

Gavin Hewitt with his earlier capture of a 32lb ghost carp.

A reminder that we are now issuing 12 hour daytime permits for the day ticket lake, as well as the usual 24 hours. Priority will always be the young, elderly and infirm anglers, as this may suit their needs better. These will only be issued for traditionally quieter days or short notice at other times, subject to available space.

Monday 8 August 2011

CATCH REPORTS TO 7th AUGUST.

Reported captures from the season ticket lake include, a 37lb mirror to Pete Amey, 31.08 mirror to Matt Holland and 30.03 mirror to Rod Phillips. Dave Pierce landed a 32.12 mirror, Dave Reekie took a 29.06 mirror, Malcolm Best landed a 25.04 common and Rich Lynn took a 22.12 mirror.
Dave Pierce with a 32.12 mirror.
The day ticket water fished well with another two 30lbs+ carp, the common believed to be the fourteenth different 30lbs+ from the lake. This fish was part of a haul by Phil Jakes, consisting of mirrors of 10lbs, 12.02 and 15.06, topped by the common at 31.08, (a PB), and a catfish of 39lbs. Regular angler Andy Buchanon was back on form with commons of 10.02, 13.08, 16.02 and 29.04, plus catfish of 22.02 & 36.14. Other reports include Paul Wood with an English PB mirror of 32.13, Martin Redford with a catfish of 45.08 and Taff Vanstone with a common of 19lbs.

Phil Jakes with his 31.08 common.

Paul Wood with his 32.13 mirror.

As regulars will know, only 24 hour tickets have been issued for the day ticket lake until now. Throughout the Summer period, it is doubtless a great advantage to fish at night, as most fish feed more heavily during darkness. However, in the interests of safety, we will amend this policy, following a number of enquiries, often from, or on behalf of the young and elderly anglers, a point which we totally understand and concur with. Therefore, we will shortly offer LIMITED day only tickets, but these will only be at short notice and subject to available space, particularly at weekends. Priority will, of course, be given to the young, elderly and disabled.

Monday 1 August 2011
